Please join us for National Catholic Schools Week at St. Mary's Parish School, the 40th Anniversary of this annual event. Starting with a public Open House before Mass on Saturday, January 25th, from 1:30-3:30, we have a whole week of activites planned to demonstrate what our students are accomplishing and to celebrate the community we've built to educate tomorrow's citizens and church leaders.
This year's National Catholic Schools Week theme is based on community: "Catholic Schools Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service." The theme highlights the fact that not only is our school a community itself, it is also part of many other communities, including families, parishes, cities, and our country. In addition, the theme focuses on key components of Catholic education: faith development, academic excellence and dedication to service. These elements are why families make sacrifices to provide a Catholic education to their children.
National Catholic Schools Week is an opportunity for you to see what I'm talking about. I am so proud of our students, and I look forward to you visting our school to enjoy the student displays and projects your children have prepared. You are also welomce to come to the Book Fair in the first floor hallway of our school. When you come, please bring your friends and neighbors, particularly those who may be thinking about Catholic education for their children.
National Catholic Schools Week is also a time for me to say publicly what I think every single day: I am grateful for the dedicaiton and commitment of our teachers, staff, administrators, board members, parents and volunteers who make our school a success. They help our community thrive.
Blessings to each of you,
Sr. Christine Lavoie, s.s.j.
